HIGH POINT — Alan Vernon Smith, 63, of High Point died Sunday at the Hospice Home at High Point. Born February 24, 1950, in Kansas, he is a son of the late Frank and Margaret Smith.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife Barbara Leach Smith of the home and three children, Merry Dawn Smith of Pennsylvania, Erin Smith and Leighton Smith, both of High Point, and brothers and sisters Jimmy Smith and his late wife Dianna of Arkansas, Donnie Smith and wife Sherry of Trinity, Darrell Smith of Texas, Gaye Pickenpack of New Jersey, Gwen Barnes of Thomasville and Janet Smith of Thomasville.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Alan Smith will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Oak View Baptist Church with the Reverend Steve Smith officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be given to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262 or the Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, Utah 84741. Arrangements by Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point.
