WRAY DURWARD CRAWFORD, JR., age 64, died September 3, , at Moses Cone Hospital after a two year battle with cancer. He was born in High Point, North Carolina on November 22, to the late Wray D. Crawford, Sr. and Ruth Gillean Crawford. He is survived by his only sibling, a sister, Jan C. Kirven (Dupont) of Summerfield, NC and her children, William Chase White, III (Stephanie) of Raleigh and Ella Ashton Kirven of Summerfield.
Wray attended Hargrave Military Academy but graduated from High Point Central High School in the class of 1969, and from High Point College in 1993 with a BS in Business Administration. He was a licensed real estate appraiser in easter NC and most recently resided in Wagram, NC. He was a US Army veteran where he served as a military police offer in Nuremberg, Germany. Wray was active in the NC Field Trial Association where he loved competing with his English Pointers, Pet and Parker, and on his beloved horse, Gus. A true outdoorsman, Wray was a man who loved his family and his friends with a rare devotion and he was the happiest when surrounded by hundreds of God's most beautiful acres to explore, in the company of his dogs, horse, dear friends and nephew.
A private gathering to remember Wray will be held on the NC Wildlife Gamelands in Hoffman, NC on his birthday and a celebration of his life will be held at the home of his sister in the near future.
