color:#303030">Gary was born July 27, 1951, in High Point, NC, to the late William and Gladys (Lawrence) Cecil. He was their second son and is survived by his siblings Ron (Betty) Cecil of Charlotte and June (Jimmy) Causey of Archdale.

color:#303030">Growing up Gary was a fun-loving guy who enjoyed working on cars with his daddy, playing sports, and cruising around with his best friend, Lott. Gary was quite athletic. He played almost every sport in school. He could throw a baseball so hard it would sting the catcher's hand. Gary excelled at wrestling where he went to the North Carolina State Championship tournament while in high school. He not only played, but also coached his sons' little league baseball teams while they were young.

color:#303030">Gary was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served in the Asheboro Ward Bishopric for 15 years. As a young man, he was called to serve the Lord as a missionary in Leeds, England. He often told stories about his time in England and the occasional pranks he'd play on new missionaries.

color:#303030">On the night he arrived home from his mission, he met Corneille Smith, the love of his life at a church fall festival. They were married four months later. Gary and Corneille were blessed with six beloved children and 19 amazing grandchildren.

color:#303030">Gary was a brilliant master plumber, who owned his own business for 19 years and was considered one of the elite plumbers in the state of North Carolina. He loved sharing his knowledge with others, especially with his four sons, who all apprenticed under him over the years. His kids always sought that plumber's thumbs-up from their dad when they moved into a new home. They always knew their dad would be there for them no matter what, and it was the little things like bringing tomato plants when he visited or picking flowers for them from his beloved garden that showed his children how much he loved them.

color:#303030">His children specifically asked that Gary's playfulness be mentioned. He loved to play games or tease his family, especially his wife. He'd tell the funniest stories, but watching him laugh-cry made his stories even funnier. His laughter will be greatly missed.

color:#303030">Gary is survived by his loving wife, Corneille and his six beloved children: Doc (Tara) Cecil, Gray (Kelly) Cecil, Ashley (Clyde) Ward, Raegen (John) Luntz, Kellen (Michelle) Cecil, and Ty (Heather) Cecil.

color:#303030">The apples of Gary's eyes were his 19 grandchildren: Kayleigh, Erin, Libby, Josh, Jake, Grayson, Ayden, Jackson, Penny, Caleb, Julie, Abbie, Brennen, Alexander, Cora, Riley, Jared, Opie and Ethan, who all knew him as PopPop and absolutely adored him.
