OAK RIDGE - John Steven “Steve” Nelson, 72, died Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
He was born January 28, 1951, in High Point and was the son of the late Robert Stafford and Ellen Smith Nelson. Steve was a 1969 graduate of High Point Central where he was an accomplished softball and football player and state champion wrestler. He was also known affectionately by his sisters, as their mother’s only child.

David Norman Presnell, 42, of 207 Whittier Ave., died Sunday at 5:17 a.m. at High Point Regional Hospital. He had been in declining health for the last three years and critically ill for one month.
He was born April 24, 1950, in Marion, a son of Charles David and Mildred Hollifield Presnell. He had lived in High Point most of his life and was employed with Desigh Concept Co. He was of the Baptist faith. On Sept. 1, 1968 he married Mary Edith Norton, who wurvives of the home.
